How does commission work?

Commission is deducted automatically from each online booking. The rate depends on your plan: 8.5% on the free Fairway plan, 5.5% on Green and 3.5% on Club (Club through OnTheTee's payments is offered in the EEA only). Each booking is charged the percentage or a small fixed minimum in your currency, whichever is higher, so very cheap tee times cost a little more than the percentage. Bookings you add yourself by phone or at the counter carry no commission at all, since golfers pay you directly for those. On Club, you can also connect your own Stripe, Paystack, PayFast or Bob Pay account and pay no commission at all.

Can I use my own payment account?

Yes, on Club. Connect your own account with a supported payment provider from your dashboard, and golfers' payments go straight into it with no OnTheTee commission. The plans above show which providers you can use in the country you've chosen. You pay the provider's processing fees, and payouts and any disputes are handled in your own account. In the EEA this is optional: Club through OnTheTee's payments is 3.5% per booking. Outside the EEA, Club always uses your own account, so it isn't offered in the few countries where no own-account provider is available yet.

What about membership fees?

Membership fees carry no commission and never pass through OnTheTee. Golfers sign up on your club's membership page and pay your club directly: by bank transfer, by a direct debit you arrange yourself, or, on Green and Club, by Direct Debit through your own GoCardless account.

Question 4

How does Direct Debit with GoCardless work?

On Green and Club, connect your own GoCardless account from your memberships page, or create one in the same step. Golfers then choose Direct Debit when they join, set up the mandate on GoCardless's secure page, and become members as soon as it's set up; if you review new members first, they pay once you've approved them. GoCardless collects each monthly or yearly fee, plus any joining fee, into your account and pays it out to your bank. You and the member are emailed if a collection fails or the mandate is cancelled, and ending a membership stops the collections. OnTheTee takes no commission; GoCardless charges you its own transaction fees. It's available where GoCardless collects in your currency: GBP, EUR, SEK, DKK, AUD, NZD, CAD and USD.

Which currency will I be billed in?

The one shown next to your country above. That's your own local currency, and the prices you see are the real amounts we charge, not live conversions.

How does annual billing work?

Accepted Answer

Annual plans cost ten months' worth for twelve months of service: two months free. You can switch between monthly and annual billing at any time.

Can I cancel or downgrade?

Accepted Answer

Any time. Downgrading to the free Fairway plan takes effect at the end of the billing period you've already paid for. You keep your plan's benefits until then, and nothing renews after.

How do golfers pay?

Accepted Answer

Online when they book, by card or another payment method that's common where you are. Payments go through Stripe, or a trusted local provider where Stripe isn't available. On the Club plan, a club can take payments on its own account with a supported provider instead, so golfers can also pay with whatever that provider offers. Membership fees are paid to your club directly; see above.
